Editorial Team: Chris, thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. How would you describe the spirit of Protectstar in one sentence?

Chris Bone:
Security is a basic right because the need for protection is deeply embedded in our human DNA.
It’s not just about technology, but about conviction and passion — we have been moving forward for more than 20 years. That’s why we put all our efforts into making protection from cyberattacks as simple and accessible as possible.
 

Editorial Team: Tell us about the technological milestones you have implemented since the company’s founding. What makes Protectstar so special?

Chris Bone:
Our driving motive since 2004 has remained unchanged: we want to protect people from complex digital threats — using technologies that are resilient and easily accessible. Here is a brief timeline:

• Smartphone security (2004–2005)
  While others were still focused on protecting desktop computers, we early on recognized the risks of mobile devices and laid the foundation for secure smartphones.
• Breakthrough in data deletion (2006–2007)
  With iShredder™ we set new standards for the final destruction of confidential data. At that time, few realized how important data protection would become — but we were already shaping this field.
• Mobile apps and privacy (since 2011)
  Our iShredder™ for Android and iOS quickly became the standard because it simply worked and provided real security. Then came Camera Guard™ and Micro Guard™, protecting camera and microphone privacy even before operating systems offered similar features. Since 2016, we have integrated AI and deep learning for even faster interception of these threats.
• AI-based solutions (2019–present)
  With Anti Spy and Antivirus AI we achieve over 99.9% malware detection — an important milestone. Receiving the BIG Innovation Award 2025 underscores our mission: “Security for all” is not just an idea, but a living reality.
• Future and innovations (2024 and beyond)
  Today we protect more than eight million people in over 100 countries. Deep Detective™ identifies new threats before they become a problem. Our motto “Shaping security” motivates us to continue creating real breakthroughs.
  
  And we have been working with artificial intelligence and machine learning long before the hype around OpenAI/chatGPT!
  When you put users at the center and make security as simple and powerful as possible, something magical happens: people feel freedom, not anxiety. That’s what has inspired us for more than two decades.
