Do Anti Spy or Antivirus AI protect against Stingray (IMSI catcher) man-in-the-middle attacks on mobile networks?

An IMSI catcher (also known as a Stingray) is a hardware-based device that intercepts your phone at the network level, placing itself between your device and the cell tower. Because such attacks occur beneath the level at which our Android apps—namely Anti Spy and Antivirus AI—operate, there are currently no system interfaces to detect or block fake cell towers in real time. Consequently, no app-based solution can directly spot or prevent an IMSI catcher.

However, our tools do protect you from software-based threats that might be used in conjunction with an IMSI catcher. If an attacker were to install spyware on your device, for example, Anti Spy and Antivirus AI, powered by dual-engine technology and AI-based scanning, would detect and block that malicious app. Additionally, we recommend using end-to-end encrypted messengers and VPNs so that, even if someone intercepts your data at the network level, the content remains unreadable.

In short:
Direct protection against IMSI catchers: Not possible, as this is a hardware-level (radio/network) attack.
Comprehensive defense against malware: Yes. Anti Spy and Antivirus AI reliably detect and stop trojans, spyware, and stalkerware.
Recommendation: Keep an eye out for unusual device behavior (e.g., sudden fallback to 2G), use encrypted communication, and ensure both Android and our apps are up to date to minimize any security gaps.
