What Micro Guard can do

What Micro Guard cannot do
- Prevent the person you are speaking with from recording a phone call or video call on their device.
- Control what mobile carriers or platforms record server-side.
- Block hardware bugs or physical microphones in your surroundings.
- Bypass system-level Android restrictions, such as automatic startup after boot on Android 15 and later.
For especially sensitive conversations, we also recommend end-to-end encrypted communication. Security works in layers, not through limitless promises.

Android’s green dot is useful, but reactive. It tells you that an app is currently using your microphone. Micro Guard goes one step earlier: it decides before access which apps are allowed through at all, and keeps an access log of every attempt, even when the screen is off.
In other words: Android shows. You decide. Micro Guard enforces your rules.
Micro Guard runs on Android 8 and later. Starting with Android 15, new system rules restrict the automatic launch of certain microphone protection services after boot. As a result, Auto-Protection after reboot is no longer available on these versions due to system limitations.
All other features such as Mic Off, whitelist, access log, and Deep Detective™ continue to work unchanged. After a reboot, you activate protection manually via the app or widget.
Because Android allows reliable control only when a protection app integrates deeply enough with the system. Micro Guard uses these permissions exclusively for three things: block, log, alert.
The Accessibility Service helps blocking and protection features work reliably on supported Android versions, even when the display is off. Device Administrator helps prevent malware from disabling protection unnoticed. You can revoke both permissions at any time in Android Settings.
Android’s global switch is all-or-nothing: on or off for all apps at once. When you want to make a call, you have to turn it back on, and then every other app is back in play too.
Micro Guard’s Mic Off works granularly per app. You can allow Phone, Voice Assistant, or a specific recorder and block all others. Plus: every attempt that still tried to access the microphone lands in the access log.
No. Micro Guard is not a recording app. It is a control and protection tool for microphone access on your Android device. Micro Guard does not record speech, does not store audio data, and does not transmit audio snippets.
What Micro Guard does: It detects which apps want to access your microphone, blocks unwanted access, and writes every detected attempt to the access log. Audio content remains invisible to Micro Guard.
Audio does not leave your device. Microphone access is analyzed exclusively on-device; neither speech nor content is uploaded or shared.
