Can I use the Google Play version instead if APK installation is blocked?
Yes, in many cases that is the best alternative. If your device blocks apps from unknown sources—for example because of Advanced Protection or an IT policy—you can often use our Google Play version much more easily because it is not installed via sideloading.
Please note, however, that the Google Play version is not always completely identical to our direct-download version. Our FAQ expressly explains that APKs from our server may include additional features that are not available in the Google Play versions because of policy restrictions. Depending on the app, this may also include a built-in updater and MY.PROTECTSTAR features.
Our recommendation is therefore: if you want the simplest possible installation, or your device blocks external APKs, use the Google Play version. However, if you need a specific feature that is available only in our direct-download version, the device settings for APK installation must be configured accordingly.
