If APK installation is blocked, can I use the Google Play version instead?

Yes, in many cases that is the best alternative. If your device blocks apps from unknown sources — for example because of Advanced Protection or an IT policy — you can often use our Google Play version much more easily because it is not installed via sideloading.

Please note, however, that the Google Play version is not always completely identical to our direct-download version. Our FAQ explicitly explains that APKs from our server may contain additional features that are not available in the Google Play versions due to policy restrictions. Depending on the app, that can also include an integrated updater and MY.PROTECTSTAR features.

Our recommendation is therefore: if you want the simplest possible installation or your device blocks external APKs, use the Google Play version. If, however, you need a specific feature that is only available in our direct-download version, the device settings for APK installation must be configured accordingly.
