Protectstar™ Strengthens Its Android Security Portfolio: iShredder™, Anti Spy, and Antivirus AI with Current DEKRA MASA L1 Validations
For Antivirus AI for Android, Protectstar reported a renewed DEKRA MASA L1 verification in early March 2026 based on a current report.
With this step, Protectstar underscores its commitment to demonstrating mobile security not only through robust functionality, but also through transparently assessed app architecture. This is especially relevant because, according to the App Defense Alliance, MASA certificates are valid for one year and must then be renewed. For security and privacy apps in particular, staying current is therefore a key trust factor.
DEKRA MASA L1 stands for Mobile Application Security Assessment and is an App Defense Alliance program based on a subset of testable OWASP MASVS Level 1 requirements. According to the official MASA documentation, the scope includes client-side security, authentication to the backend or cloud service, and secure connectivity to those services, among other areas. For Assurance Level 1, the App Defense Alliance describes the process as a combination of an APK scan and a structured questionnaire.
Current validation status at a glance:
- Anti Spy Android: renewed DEKRA MASA L1 validation, announced on February 25, 2026; according to Protectstar, package com.protectstar.antispy.android, version 6.7.5, with an issuance date of February 20, 2026.
- Antivirus AI for Android: renewed DEKRA MASA L1 verification, announced on March 7, 2026; Protectstar describes the current assessment as a fresh confirmation of the reviewed Android version.
- iShredder™ Android: current DEKRA MASA L1 validation according to the DEKRA report for com.projectstar.ishredder.android.standard, version 7.2.3, with an issuance date of March 13, 2026.
“With three current DEKRA MASA L1 validations across our Android portfolio, we are sending a clear signal: Protectstar develops security apps with a focus not only on effective protection, but equally on sound architecture, secure data flows, and responsible app development. For our users, that means more transparency, more trust, and more real-world security in everyday life.”
The technical substance behind these validations is significant: the reports and technical articles available highlight, among other things, secure data storage, no sensitive data in logs, proper handling of sensitive input, proven cryptography, TLS-protected network communication, certificate validation, minimal permissions, validated inputs, as well as release hardening and enabled security features in the toolchain. The DEKRA report for iShredder™ explicitly cites these areas, and the recent articles on Anti Spy Android and Antivirus AI likewise describe the same core categories as central components of the assessment.
The three apps address different, complementary security needs on Android: iShredder™ provides secure, permanent data destruction with more than 20 recognized erasure algorithms; Anti Spy, positioned by Protectstar as a dual-engine solution, focuses on detecting spyware, stalkerware, and hidden surveillance tools; and Antivirus AI combines traditional signatures with AI-based real-time detection to identify malware, spyware, ransomware, and other threats at an early stage.
For Protectstar, this adds up to a strong overall picture: data erasure, anti-spyware, and AI-powered malware protection are consistently supported across a single portfolio by security criteria that can be externally verified. According to the company website, more than 8 million people in over 100 countries now trust Protectstar from individual users to businesses, government agencies, and ministries.
