Why does iShredder iOS show more free space available for deletion than my iPhone reports?
If you've noticed that iShredder iOS indicates more free space available to securely erase than what your iPhone itself reports, don't worry—this is perfectly normal and easily explained.
Your iPhone’s built-in storage report (Settings → General → iPhone Storage) shows free space based only on user-accessible files. In contrast, iShredder calculates all space not actively storing user files, including temporary system caches, app overhead, and other reserved storage areas managed by iOS. These areas, while invisible in your iPhone’s settings, contain data that can potentially be recovered and are therefore securely overwritten by iShredder.
After iShredder completes the secure erasure, your iPhone will gradually reallocate and update storage details, bringing the reported storage usage back in line over time.
Rest assured, when iShredder reports that your free space has been securely erased, the process has been thorough and complete.
