iShredder iOS does not recognize my iPhone or iPad connected via USB. What can I do?
If iShredder iOS does not recognize your iPhone or iPad connected via USB, the cause is usually device authorization, the desktop connection, or a USB/driver issue.
The best approach is to go in this order:
On a Mac (macOS Catalina or newer):
Open Finder, connect your iPhone or iPad via USB, and select the device in the left sidebar. If the message “Trust This Computer?” appears on the iPhone or iPad, confirm it by tapping “Trust”. Then restart iShredder iOS.
On Windows:
It is best to use the Apple Devices app, as Apple now describes it as the central Windows app for managing and recognizing iPhone and iPad devices. In older setups, iTunes may still play a role. Connect the device via USB, unlock it, and also confirm the “Trust This Computer?” message if it appears. Then restart iShredder iOS.
If the device is still not recognized, also check the following:
- whether the iPhone or iPad is unlocked,
- whether you are using a data cable and not just a charging cable,
- whether a different USB port helps,
- whether Finder, Apple Devices, or iTunes and iOS / iPadOS are up to date,
- and whether restarting both the device and the computer solves the issue.
In short: For iShredder iOS to recognize your device, it must be connected via USB, unlocked, trusted by the computer, and visible in Finder or Apple Devices. That approval step is usually the decisive part.
